Aloha! This summer I took a two week holiday to Hawaii, to attend my brother's wedding.
My sister and I flew out on June 26th, and joined my parents who had arrived a few days before. We all stayed out Paul's
house in Pearl City, so the house included Paul, Betsy (fiancee), his daughter Devon, her daughter's Jordyn and Kasey, my
parents, Meagan, three cats, and I. Three bathrooms nad two showers. Fun times!
The first day there was spent on wedding business, and we also met up with Pat and Geoff, two family friends
from Cedar Rapids, who also flew out for the wedding, but were staying at another part of the island.
Thursday was teh wedding, and that was held at Paradise Cove, overlooking the beach. After the ceremony,
and a LONG photo session, we all headed over to the luau and had a great time eating, spear throwing, lai-making, and for
some of us unfortuante people...dancing. White people whould not be expected to hoolah, or shake anything on our bodies
except our heads.
After that, the true touristy things started. We went up to the northern end of the island to the surf
town of Haliewa, Waikiki, did the Atlantis Submarine and dove to 120 feet below to view some ship and aircraft wrecks and
the sea life (saw a shark), did a greta glider ride (Meagan and Jordyn did the scenic ride together, I did the aerobatic ride
by myself).
We also went to Pearl Harbor on July 4th, where they had a carnival for the military families, and fireworks
in the evening. We went to see the USS Arizona Memorial, which was incredible, and also toured the Missouri, and the
submarine, Bowfin.
Meagan and I got back early Sunday morning, and I was a ombie for the rest of the day.
A couple of pictures are below, to prove I went.
